Welcome to A Watercolor Study---Beetles, Bees, & Brushstrokes

I’m so excited you’re here and can’t wait to start painting together this week!

Whether you’re new to watercolor or have been painting for years, there’s something truly magical about studying the delicate beauty of insects. Together, we’ll capture the shimmer of beetles, the soft wings of butterflies, the charm of bees, and even the fascinating forms of spiders.

Every Wednesday night, we’ll explore these tiny creatures through watercolor—learning new techniques, sharing tips, and most importantly, enjoying the creative process. Each session will give you the chance to experiment and express your own style while connecting with fellow artists.

To help you get started, I’ve prepared sketches you can paint directly onto. If you’d like to try printing them at home, I recommend using 140 lb watercolor paper that’s cut down to fit your printer (usually 8.5 x 11 inches). Simply load the sheets one at a time to avoid jams, and set your printer to “high quality” or “best” for a clear outline. If your home printer struggles with the thicker paper, no worries—most local print shops are happy to print the sketches for you if you bring in the files and your watercolor paper.

Bring your curiosity, your supplies, and a love for the little things in nature. I can’t wait to see how each of you interprets the brilliant colors and details of these insects through your art. Let’s create a supportive, inspiring environment—and some stunning paintings—together!
